The World Health Organization has a list of conditions for which acupuncture has proven to be beneficial.

Conditions that acupuncture has been proven effective and are supported by controlled trials include[8]:

neck, shoulder, knee and low back pain, post-operative pain, Rheumatoid arthritis, headaches, allergies and hay fever, depression, dysmenorrhea, stomach pain and gastritis, nausea and vomiting, morning sickness.

 

Diseases, symptoms or conditions for which the therapeutic effect of acupuncture has been shown[9]:

Abdominal pain, Acne, Bell’s palsy, Bronchial asthma, fever, epistaxis, female infertility fibromyalgia, insomnia, labour pain, lactation, male sexual dysfunction, Ménière disease, Neuralgia, Premenstrual syndrome, Prostatitis, Raynaud syndrome, Retention of urine, sore throat (including tonsillitis), spine pain, acute stiff neck, Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, Ulcerative colitis, Vascular dementia, Whooping cough (pertussis)
